Brocklehurst’s bespoke secondary glazing service is an ideal solution for period and listed properties and homes within conservation areas. Where replacement windows are not a viable option, secondary glazing retains heat and reduces noise without damaging the unique aesthetics of the window.
Our bespoke secondary glazing’s unobtrusive design makes use of durable, slimline aluminium frames that accentuate the stylings of the existing window.
Our frames utilise the latest technology to reduce external noise levels by up to 80%
By tightly blocking draft and creating a barrier of air between the primary and secondary pane, secondary glazing can reduce heat loss by up to 70%.
We have been restoring and replacing windows in historic buildings for over 30 years working on some of England’s most beautiful period properties. Combining our extensive experience in traditional joinery with modern glazing methods, we feel uniquely placed to serve the owners and custodians of listed buildings. Some of our secondary glazing projects are detailed below while you can find more completed projects on our projects page.
We’ve worked on a wide range of projects over the years most notably with The National Trust and Peak District National Park Authority as well as with many privet owners. We’re pleased to have a reputation for reliability, professionalism and with a great care to working within budget. Read some of our testimonials throughout our website and particularly on our testimonials page.
We offer sliding secondary glazing systems (horizontal or vertical), hinged systems or lift-outs.

Take a look through some of our recent secondary glazing projects.
The Muslim Welfare Centre comprises a Mosque and facilities to support the local Muslim community. As a former Methodist church the building has traditional large, arched windows, 59 in total. Brocklehurst supplied and fitted 59 secondary glazing units, utilising our extensive experience in restoring period windows, to reduce heat loss significantly while retaining the unique appearance of the building.
This stone farmhouse dates from 1814 and contains 8 windows of varying sizes, some set in stone surrounds and others with period wooden lintels. Brocklehurst supplied 8 bespoke windows allowing as much light to enter the room as possible whilst keeping as much heat as possible trapped inside the building.
